Blog N°4: My future as a midwife

I imagine in the future here in Chile in Metropolitan region, in the first instance, working as a midwife in a hospital and in the office, because on one hand I would to see the two realities and decide ultimately where all I would like to stay in the distant future. For the same when working in these places would be my time fully occupied, and that on the day in the medical center and work in night shifts at a hospital. I know that this decision would cost me time in my personal life, but I accept the cost, as this would not be for my whole life.

However, in the system I would like to work in the public system, because I feel that in this system as a health professional is in more contact with the community it serves. That's where the population is at risk and where you can help improve your lifestyle, if not all, especially to pregnant low-income populations have the means to go to a private clinic.

In the area of specialization, yet I have not quite decided, because I would like to specialize in public health but also in neonatology, this is something we'll see over time, but my inclination is neonatology, because I want everything you have to do with the care of the newborn.

I am not interested in getting an important position, I just want to do my job.

Blog Nº 3: Favorite subject

My favorite subject is physiological obstetrics because it explains step by step the stages of development in the fetus from the beginning and the changes in women over the first nine months of gestation, also the importance of the work of the midwife in the psychological support midwifes who deliver because without doubt this is an aspect of their role of the accompany a pregnant. It is there among other things to allay fears, to help establish a good bond with the child who is born, to give encouragement when the woman is in pain and provide comfort in times of fear, to achieve a successful pregnancy.

The most interesting contents in the subject are embryology, physiological changes of pregnancy, prenatal care and psychosocial aspects of pregnancy.

Exist as in any subject content easier and more difficult, in obstetrics are the easiest physiological obstetric semiology, prenatal and psychosocial aspects and the most difficult and important is embryology. All these contents are taught midwifes from the University of Chile, with teaching experience and clinical practice.

I love Obstetrics physiological, but it has its degree of difficulty, I have good grades and I try hard to study and prepare for each workshop, do it with joy because I know this is mine.

I found this website 1 month ago, and I visit at least 3 times a week, because it gives me information for various research.

I like this website because I trust his veracity and so easy to explain. I find it very complete in my career as a midwife, because it's a site for women special treatments, resolving doubts in every stage in their lives.
